Gothic castle

Gothic castle. The tower-less, brick-built, knight castle situated on the southeastern shore of Lake Gosławskie. It was built by the Bishop Andrew Łaskarz from Poznan, Godziemba coat of arms, in the years 1418-1426. The castle consists of two buildings arranged parallel to each other, covered with steep, gable roofs. All buildings are connected by the lower wing, that closes the southern side of a small courtyard. The whole foundation of the castle is surrounded by a defensive wall topped with battlements and embrasures. The castle was rebuilt in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A major overhaul was accomplished in the years 1978-1986. It is currently house of the Regional Museum in Konin.
