Skansen Bicz

Bicz 9a
62-571 Stare Miasto
A real treat for history buffs are the exhibits related to the equipment and furnishing of old houses and farms. While enthusiasts of agricultural machinery will be pleased to see Polish agricultural tractors, at the heart of the Bicz open-air museum are the pearls of Polish medieval architecture - koźlaki, or goat windmills, which appeared on Polish soil at the beginning of the 13th century.

In the carriage house of the Bicz open-air ethnographic museum, one can see old hand tools used in the workshops of wheelwrights, coopers, carpenters, carpenters, as well as turners, whereas in the forge of the open-air museum there is a collection of old tools and equipment used by blacksmiths and locksmiths.

The undergrounds have been repurposed into a wine cellar with a unique interior, in which collections of old wine and beer bottles and mugs (ceramic and glass) are gathered.

The Bicz open-air museum also features thatched cottages equipped with reconstructed, fully operational "Baba" type bread baking ovens and a beautifully decorated enamelled kitchen.

It is worth mentioning that in the area of the open-air ethnographic museum there is the only green house in Poland - a framed building filled with peat and covered with grass on the outside.
